In 25 years of vocal performance, Dorcas’ experience ranges from solo and ensemble parts in opera, oratorio and musical theatre, to lead and backing vocals with jazz, soul and gospel bands, to live choral broadcasts and recorded performances for the BBC.
Dorcas received her BMus from one of the world’s leading performing arts schools, the Guildhall School of Music & Drama (GSMD) in London, UK. GSMD’s alumni include opera star Bryn Terfel, jazz singer Stacey Kent and actor Orlando Bloom. After graduating, Dorcas went on to focus on her great love – jazz – training under accomplished scat singer Anita Wardell.
Along the way Dorcas has been coached by the best in the business, from soprano Margaret Hyde and mezzo Johanna Peters, to leading contemporary jazz singers Anita Wardell and Brigitte Beraha.
As a singer, singing teacher and vocal coach, Dorcas is passionate about helping students establish great vocal technique, discover their authentic sound, and express themselves confidently and creatively in their chosen musical genre.
